1916 PHILADELPHIA ATHLETICS VS 1904 WASHINGTON SENATORS
The Senators lost 113 games in 1904 while winning just 38. The winner of this series will face the 1981 Chicago Cubs.

GAME ONE
Can the Athletics run finally be brought to an end? In the bottom of the eighth, Jake Stahl tied the game with an RBI double and Jack Thoney brought Stahl home with a single to give the Senators the series opener.
Final score: 1904 Washington Senators 6 1916 Philadelphia Athletics 5.

GAME TWO
The Senators appeared on their way to a 2-0 series lead. But, in the top of the ninth, Wally Schang hit a bases loaded triple with two out to tie the score. Then, in the bottom of the eleventh, Patsy Donovan hit a bases loaded single and the Senators took a walk off win.

GAME THREE
The Athletics committed six errors, three in the ninth inning and now face the possibility of being swept.

The sweep is complete and the Athletics are finally eliminated! The Senators out hit Philadelphia 13-6.
