Fort Worth would push across single runs in the top of the 1st, 4th and 5th to go up 3-0 over Alexandria. Meanwhile Kevin Tapani was able to shut the Aces down over the first 4 innings. Buddy Blair singled off Tapani to start the 5th. A passed ball moved Blair to second and a Duke Kenworthy ground out moved him to third. Del Alston then singled driving Blair home. 3-1 Fort Worth
Bottom of the 6th: Marty Marion reaches first on a error by 2B Jack Hannifin. Ed Kranepool was next up and he doubled moving Marion to third. Next to the plate wildcard series MVP Jim Presley. Presley smashed a 1-1 pitch between first and second for a single. Marion scored easily, followed by a close play at the plate...safe. Game tied at 3.
The game would then remain 3-3 until the bottom of the 11th. Tim Crews is now on the mound for Fort Worth. Crew retired Ed Kranepool to start the inning. With one out up stepped Presley. Single to left. DiMaggio flies out to right. Billy Sample is next up. Sample smacked the first pitch to him from Crew into the left center gap. Double. Presley scores Aces Win 4-3. Javy Guerra gets the win. Tim Crews the loss.
