In the league list, maybe have it on the top as 'MINE' or 'TEAM' or 'ORG', right at the top of the list. Have it filter all news looking for people on my protected list.

The new news system is just the beginning. Over time (not before release) we want to expand on it with the option to just select teams you want news from or special lists you describe. It just takes some time.
