06/30/1973 - HUGE Game for Bonds, Giants Bludgeon Braves, 18-2

The San Francisco Giants powered past the Atlanta Braves, 18-2, at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. Bobby Bonds was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and 2 walks, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 9, to lead the charge. Ron Bryant picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 5-5. The Giants improve their record to 35-42 with the win over Atlanta.

With San Francisco leading 3-1 in the top of the fourth, Bonds hit a fastball from Ron Schueler for a bases-clearing double. It was his 10th double of the season and put the Giants ahead, 6-1.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Bonds.

Bobby's career day overshadowd another 2 homer performance from 1B Dave Kingman, who took both RHP Ron Schueler and RHP Tom Kelley deep.
