04/08/1973 - Giants Roll to 12-2 Win Over Reds; Kingman Hits Grand Slam HR

The exploits of first baseman Dave Kingman helped the San Francisco Giants defeat the Cincinnati Reds, 12-2. Kingman went 2 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. San Francisco, now 2-1, has played well in the early going.

Kingman contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for San Francisco in the top of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Kingman took a fastball from RHP Jack Billingham and stroked the home run to left. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Giants to leap in front, 5-2.
