Is there a reason why I can't "Force Start" a hitter against RHP or LHP only?

This seems so basic ... Matchups are such a big deal but I can't "force start" a platoon?

Also, let me force pitching roles as well. I have a guy that's 85 stuff vs LHB but 45 against RHB. The AI won't use him against LHB only as I want him to. He's useless unless I manage each batter of each game.
