In the midst of a frustrating season, Seattle starting pitcher Taylor Mannarino is sidelined for the rest of the 1976 campaign with a partially torn UCL. The oft-injured right-handed veteran won 16 games for the Alligators in 1975 but ends 1976 with a 2-13 mark, in spite of deserving better, as his 94 FIP- would indicate. Seattle is mired in 10th place in the SJL and the loss of Mannarino just adds injury to insult.
Having earlier lost star second baseman Mike Robinette to a torn labrum injury and starting pitcher Ross Welch due to a torn back muscle, the Alligators are probably secretly just hoping for the end of the season to come as quickly as possible as they play out the string.
