Walkers news: April 13 -- St. Louis 4, Kansas City 2, Game 1

Record:4-1, 1st, 0.5 GA Cedar Rapids
Jimmy Lambert allowed one run over seven innings and St. Louis rode a four-run second inning to defeat Kansas City 4-2 in the first game of a doubleheader at Kansas City Municipal Stadium (1969).
Lambert (1-0) tossed a shutout for five innings before allowing a run to the Pit Masters in the sixth.
He worked one more inning, finishing have allowed the one run on four hits. Lambert struck out five and walked one.
Caleb Ferguson worked a scoreless eighth inning.
The River Walkers bullpen had to work harder than it would have hoped ti close out the game.
St. Louis used four pitchers in the inning,Nick Lodolo, John Curtiss and Jake Brentz, as the Pit Masters loaded the bases with no outs.
Tim Anderson singled off Brentz , who had walked Grant Witherspoon to fill the sacks, to make it 4-2.
But Brentz collected himself and got both Yasmani Grandal and pinch-hitter Logan Tanner to both fly out and earn himself his first save.
The Walkers did all of their scoring in the top of the second against Kansas City starting pitcher Kyle Wright.

Carlos VIdal drove in the first run with a single.
Walks to Austin Barnes and Lambert then loaded the bases.
Alek Thomas followed with a single, making it 2-0.
Bo Bichette doubled that advantage with another single.
