07/22/1973 - Giants Edge Cubs, 4-3 Before the Break

San Francisco Giants starter Ron Bryant was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Chicago Cubs, 4-3. Bryant went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 6-8. Charlie Williams got the save, his 2nd in 2 chances.

Steve R Ontiveros aided the San Francisco cause with a 2-run single in the top of the first. For the game, the third baseman went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. 1B Dave Kingman added a solo homer off RHP Rick Reuschel.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Ontiveros told reporters after the game.

With the win, San Francisco has a record of 46-53. Chicago falls to 53-49.
