Toronto's Preseason Perfect!
The Toronto Maple Leafs were able to go undefeated during the preseason which amazed many. General Manager Doug Gilmour and Head Coach Gary Roberts even rotated the players out/in, brought players up, sent players down, etc, etc.

The amazing part about this streak was the fact Leafs used all 4 Goalies in the rotation. Andersen, Murray & Bibeau all got 2 games a piece and Rookie Kaskisuo got to taste some NHL experience with his one game (Also being the first time he's played in the NHL Level). Each goalie played well and were undefeated in the stretch.

Bibeau and Kaskisuo were sent back down to the Marlies after the games as expected, while Andersen will get the starting role again this season, but Murray expected to get anywhere between 20-30 games this season. Also we can't cut out an appearance from either Bibeau or Kaskisuo down the stretch of the 82 games (Injuries or just to give time at the level).

GM Gilmour made that clear "We have 4 goalies that showed up this preseason. It's obviously hard when that happens." but finished off with "Andersen and Murray were key parts to our Stanley Cup raising this past season and are NHL Caliber goalies. They'll be getting the time respectively, but don't be surprised when and if Bibeau or Kaskisuo get a call up to get some more experience at the NHL level."

Jake Gardiner Impresses Many.
As preseason comes to an end and the regular season on the way, many expected Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, Morgan Rielly, and so on to be the headline topics. Yes they did well, but one name impressed all this preseason and that name being Jake Gardiner.

Coach Gary Roberts split a lot of time to a few defenceman he wanted to give a chance to. With that being said, Jake Gardiner only played in 4 games during the preseason. The reason not being because he wasn't performing, but the total opposite. In the 4 games Gardiner played in he collected a astonishing 4 Goals and 5 Assists. He was 1 point behind Mitch Marner (GP:7, G:4, A:6) preseason leader for the Leafs.

Coach Gary Roberts spoke highly about his third line defenceman. "He came out and proved he wanted to play." Gardiner has been criticized for his play before being "Lazy" at times and "Not Consistent". GM Gilmour said "Hopefully this is a sign that Gardiner will give the fans more faith in his play." and also adding "We know what type of player Gardiner can be. That's why he has been here for the last 7 years."
