In the top of the third, the Colt .45s loaded the bases with nobody out. Johnson scored when Aspromonte hit a sacrifice fly to put the Colt .45s on the board. Bright followed with a three run homer.

In the bottom of the fourth, Hubbs put the Cubs on the board with a two out RBI single. Rodgers followed with a two run triple.

In the bottom of the fifth, Banks tied the game with a two out RBI single.

After six: Houston 4 Chicago 4.

In the top of the seventh, Aspromonte put the Colt .45s back in the lead with his own two out RBI single.

In the bottom of the seventh, Altman tied the game with an RBI double. An intentional walk to Banks loaded the bases with one out. Hubbs grounded into the 3-2 fielder's choice for the second out. Rodgers flew out to right to end the inning.

After a leadoff single in the top of the eighth, Barney Schultz took the mound for the Cubs.

After a leadoff single in the bottom of the eighth, Howie Koplitz took the mound for the Colt .45s. Santo gave the Cubs the lead with a two out RBI double.

The Colt .45s went down in order in the top of the ninth.

The Cubs got 11 hits in the victory.

Final score: Chicago 6 Houston 5.
