The US has some really terrible labor law. But discriminating against those that are or might become pregnant is a lawsuit just waiting to happen.
And if they are dumb enough to put it in writing then they are truly dumb.

Don't know how it is in other countries, but I think the USA is like everyone else in allowing powerful business to direct government. When you think about it, the Civil War was about the wealthy not wanting to change the way they treated labor. 9/11 was due considerably to the FAA cow-towing to the airline industry's wish for less security. You can thank congress handcuffing the FDA for the opioid crisis. The system is geared to allow corporate America to get what they want at the expense of the individual citizen.
