Pitcher substitution - logic error

My pitcher was injured on the play in which the 3rd out of the inning was recorded and was due up 4th in the next inning. There should have been no requirement to substitute for him until his time to bat came up or my team had to return to the field. OOTP forced me to make a substitution due to his being unable to continue due to injury even though he was not on the field. I chose a pitcher who was tired and would not be pitching today since I knew I would pinch hit when the spot came up or put in a different pitcher in the case of 3 up and 3 down. The system not only forced me to substitute when it should not have since the injured player was not on the field or at bat, but it compounded the error by preventing me from using a pinch hitter for the placeholder sub that I had to use. There should be no requirement to force an injured player to be substituted for unless he is either on the field, on the bases or coming to bat. Injured players sitting in the dugout but holding their spot in the lineup should be allowed as they are in actual baseball.
