I think it would help if we could use the AA and UA abbreviations from the database. Not sure if that would be hard to do.
I do understand why not much support for 19th century play hasnt been added. The transactions are a nightmare.
Ive been working on my own spreadsheet for a couple of years now. What i did was try a simplified method. I just released players to the free agency every time they are not on a team. So a player is either released or signed on a date.
I tried to have players only sign with a team they actually played for that year. I had players retire the day after their last game played unless they have a retired date. I figure if i perform all the release transactions first before the signings on a date it should work. I am up to 8,274 transactions and almost finished. I still have to look at each trade and make sure the team ids match up as i play a season. Im also gonna look at my book on 19th century players as i do and see if theres anything missing.
