Man, losing 3 out of 4 to the Twins is a momentum-stopper.

But the real-life Royals got SWEPT in Minnesota in late September of 1985 in the heat of the race, prompting Twins manager Billy Gardner to call the Royals' offense "listless."

Kansas City got the last laugh on Gardner twice. First, by going on to win the 1985 World Series, then by finishing an agonizing two games back of the Twins in 1987. And who was managing the Royals in 1987?

Billy Gardner.

Good luck in Seattle!
