The Cubs have a one off home game today against the Pittsburgh Pirates before embarking on a 16 game road trip. The Cubs have won the last three meetings between these two teams and The season series is tied 4-4.

In the bottom of the first, Schulte put the Cubs on the board with a sacrifice fly. Steinfeldt added an RBI single.

In the bottom of the third, Sheckard singled for his 50th hit of the season. But the Cubs were unable to cash it in.

After three: Chicago 2 Pittsburgh 0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Kling added an RBI single. Brown added to the lead with an RBI double.

Ritchey led off the top of the sixth with a single for his 50th hit of the season. He would advance to second before being thrown out at home by Slagle while trying to score on a Clarke single. Nealon would put the Pirates on the board with a run-scoring single.

After six: Chicago 4 Pittsburgh 1.

In the top of the seventh, Beaumont extended his hit streak to 11 games with an RBI single. Ritchey then knocked one in with a single. The Pirates then loaded the bases with one out. Nealon went down on strikes for the second out. Phillippe then popped out to second to retire the side.

In the top of the ninth, the Pirates put a runner on first but Clarke flew out to left to end the game.

Final score: Chicago 4 Pittsburgh 3.
