The Chicago Cubs have lost three straight and have scored just a single run in the first two games combined of their series against the New York Giants. Today is the third game of this four game series. The Cubs have scored two runs or less in each of their last four games.

The Cubs got a run in the bottom of the first as Evers scored from second after Donlin dropped a fly ball hit by Hofman. Ames would later strike out Schulte for his 40th K of the season.

Despite the 1-0 score, neither team had a hit in the first three innings.

After three: Chicago 1 New York 0.

Schulte led off the bottom of the fourth with a single for the game's first hit. But the Cubs would not cash it in.

Marshall got a two out single in the top of the fifth for the Giants first hit of the game. But he would advance no further.

In the bottom of the sixth, Steinfeldt knocked one in with a single. A walk later and bases were loaded with two out. Tinker singled to score one run but Steinfeldt was thrown out at home trying to score from second to end the inning.

After six: Chicago 3 New York 0.

Hooks Wiltse came on to pitch for the Giants in the bottom of the eighth. Donlin committed his second error of the game, dropping a Steinfeldt fly ball, allowing Schulte to score from second. Sheckard then added an RBI single.

Pfiester then finished off the complete game shutout.

Final score: Chicago 5 New York 0.
