09/25/1973 - Giants Lose, 6-2, at Astrodome

The Houston Astros topped the San Francisco Giants, 6-2, in NL action at Astrodome. The player of the game was Houston pitcher and St. Louis, Missouri native Jerry Reuss. Reuss, now 13-8, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. The Astros bumped their record to 91-68 with this latest triumph.

The Astros got a big at-bat from left fielder Bob Watson. For the game, Watson went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 133rd hit of the season gave Houston a 2-0 lead.

Kingman added his 35th of the year off LHP Jerry Reuss, who he seems to like to see on the mound. The Giants first baseman now has 93 RBI on the season, with four games to go.
