Walkers news: May 24 -- Quad City 8, St. Louis 7

Record: 22-23, 4th, 4.5 GB Kansas City
A pair of four-run innings staked Quad City to an 8-0 lead and then the Thunder held on to defeat St. Louis 8-7 at Busch Stadium (1997).
Derek Fisher hit a two-out grand slam off River Walkers starting pitcher Brandon Spagnuolo in the third inning to put the Thunder up 4-0.
In its four-run fourth, Quad City rapped out three hits but were helped by a wild pitch which scored a run and a hit by pitch and walk which occured with the bases loaded.
St. Louis quickly got back into it with a six-run bottom of the fifth.
Tyler Esplin drove in three of the runs with a homer off Quad City starter Franklin Perez while Bo Bichette plated two with a double.
The River Walkers pulled to within a run in the seventh on an RBI double from Austin Hedges off Justus Sheffield.
But they ended that inning stranding runners at the corners and did not have a base runner the rest of the way.
Perez worked 4.1 innings, allowing six runs on seven hits.
Sheffield earned the win, his first, after going 1.2 innings.
Evan Steele, Abel M. De Los Santos and Jimmy Herget all worked an inning to close it out.
Herget earned his 12th save.
St. Louis third baseman Nicky Delmonico left the game after injuring himself making a throw. He was diagnosed with back spasms is expected to miss four games.
