1933 NHL Playoffs
The first round is a best of three this year.
The
Rangers beat
Montreal in OT, then need two 3rd period goals, but it’s enough to edge the
Habs 2-0. After getting upset in the opening game, the
Maroons crush
Detroit in game 2, then shut down the
Wings in game 3 too advance.
2nd Round is a best of five.
A dominant performance from the
Americans in round 2. They hold the
Black Hawks to just one goal in a 3 games sweep. The
Americans make their first Stanley Cup in 7 years.
George Hainsworth, now 39, recorded the back to back shutouts.
After a first game blowout, I assumed the series would be a cakewalk for the
Maroons. The
Rangers didn’t agree and responded with back to back wins.
Montreal forced a game 5, but the
Rangers defense did the job.
New York eliminates the defending champs, and advance to the Stanley Cup!
