1930-31 NHL Regular Season

The Montreal Maroons are the clear favorite to win their 3rd straight Stanley Cup.

There is no player ranking page like in OOTP, which is too bad. It seems like the type of feature that can be implemented no matter what sport there is. Instead, there is a player poll published every season. I’ll start showing that every season. Here are this years player poll results.

No Maroons on the list. Maybe the players hate the Maroons.

King Clancy is now a well established vet playing in Detroit. He’s 27 now, and in his 5th season in the NHL. I was looking at the block shots stats, and take a look at the leaderboard halfway through the season.

Wow, Clancy has almost double the blocks then anyone else in hockey. Toughness, bravery, heart. King Clancy is willing to sacrifice for his craft. That’s impressive. Clancy has twice blocked more then 300 shots in a season!!

The 1931 season went like this. We have one great team, we have one awful team. Then we have the middle class, made up of everyone else. Here are the final standings…

The Maroons lose just 7 times, while Chicago wins just 5. Every other team is between 16-20 wins.

The emergence of Charlie Conacher is complete!! He leads the league in goals.

King Clancy leads the league in blocked shots with 195. 70 more then anyone else. That's actually Clancy's lowest total in 5 years!
