Walkers news: May 27 -- St. Louis 6, Springfield 2

Record: 24-19, 2nd (Tied/w. Kansas City), 2 GB Des Moines
Down 1-0, Rhys Hoskins hit a three-run double to cap a four-run bottom of the fifth inning and lift St. Louis to a 6-2 win over Springfield at Busch Stadium (1997).
A one-out walk from Prairie Fighters starting pitcher Josh Hader to fellow pitcher Alex Faedo got things rolling for the River Walkers.
A tiring Hader then issued another walk to Larry Ernesto before a Bo Bichette single loaded the bases.
Nicky Delmonico then drew the third walk of the inning, bringing in Faedo with the tying run.
Reliever Jake Diekman took over and allowed Hoskins bases-clearing double, and St. Louis led 4-1.
Pinch-hitter Jean Carmona drove in a run with a double and Byron Buxton plated another with a single, both given up by reliever Justin Lawrence, pushing the Walkers' advantage to 6-1.
Springfield did get a run in the ninth against reliever Thad Ward, however, after that he was able to limit the damage.
Faedo worked six innings, allowing one run on three hits. He struck out eight and walked none.
John Curtiss handled the seventh inning and recorded the first two outs of the eighth.
Bobby Poyner took care of the final two outs of the eighth, before Ward came aboard in the ninth.
