I'm not new to the game but haven't played in a league with OOTP. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me if the following is possible and how the mechanics would work.

A friend and I perhaps 2 want to play a season. We want to control our teams and let the AI handle everything else. If this is possible, would it then be possible to play our games H2H? I assume everyone would have to be on the same game version?

Is something like this possible and can you point me to resources to learn how if it is.
