Houston Astros (14-20 .412 10 GB tied for 6th place in the PCL East)

POR: Frank Flores (23-R 3-3 3.00) Rookie vs. HOU: Eduardo Sandoval (25-R 0-1 3.43) Rookie

Flores has lost his last two starts, giving up 10 runs in 9 IP.

We have never faced Sandoval before. This will be his 7th start of the season and he only has 21 IP. He has gone 8 innings twice, both nice outings, but in the other 5, he has had to leave early with some kind of ailment. He is currently suffering from a strained back, but he is going to give it a go.

Tony Norris gets hit by a pitch... The Bullpen is up. Dalton Steele grounds a double play ball to 2nd, but Shannon Kuchta makes a bad throw for an error. Pinch-runner at 2nd for Norris: Ken Esh (29-L). With 1 out, they send up PH Willie Cadena (32-L), a .286 hitter in 49 AB with 0 HR. Call to the Bullpen: Dick Register (28-L). New Pitcher: Tommy Trainum (35-R), their closer with a 1.29 ERA in 14 IP with 2 BB and 14 SO. Top of our order up. Jose Julio swings at the first pitch and lines a hit to center. Brian Mitchell bunts him to 2nd. Fernando Mexicano takes a 3-2 pitch for ball 4. Glenn Snowden, the cold cleanup hitter who is 5 for his last 32 (.156), strikes out.... Rick Woodell lines a 3-1 pitch to right for a hit and Julio heads home..... The throw is late! Tie game: 1 to 1! Shannon Kuchta grounds out to 3rd.

New Pitcher: David Fuentes (25-R). Randy Dunaway is in to play 2nd in a double switch. PH Juan Garcia (30-L), who is 4 for 6 with a HR so far this year, lines one to center and Brian Mitchell makes a running catch! Dalton Steele and Greg Wertz both strike out!!

New Pitcher: Webb McCullough (25-R) with a 2.45 ERA in 22 IP with 2 BB and 18 SO. He pitched 2 scoreless innings against us on Tuesday. With 1 out, Juan Rojas grounds a hit up the middle. He then gets picked off at 1st... Randy Dunaway doubles over the center fielders head and Rojas would have scored easily.... Jose Julio loops a hit to center and Dunaway heads home and beats the throw! 2 to 1, Beavers! Brian Mitchell lines a 3-2 pitch to center for a hit and Julio goes to 3rd. Fernando Mexicano grounds out to short.

Bottom of the Tenth:

PH Victor Torrero (29l), who is 1 for 14 (.071) on the season, but went 15 for 37 (.405) last year as a pinch-hitter, Swings at the first pitch and grounds one to short, but 1B Glenn Snowden, the Gold Glover, drops the throw... His second error of the game... Tom Babcock walks on 4 pitches... Ed Holle flies out to center. Mike Oakley, who won Tuesday's game with a home run, strikes out! Russ Jimenez grounds one to 2nd and 1B Glenn Snowden holds on to the throw from Randy Dunaway and THIS Ball Game Belongs to the Beavers!

The Astros announced that P Eduardo Sandoval had just aggravated his already strained back. The expect it to be healed up by the next time he is scheduled to pitch.
