The Indians scored first with a run in the top of the third. In the bottom of the third, Toby Harrah tied it with an RBI single and Jeff Burroughs did the same to give the Rangers the lead.

Gogolewski got out of a jam in the fourth as the Indians stranded runners at second and third. In the bottom of the fourth, Gogolewski grounded into a fielder's choice that brought home a run and then scored himself on an RBI double by Elliott Maddox.
In the bottom of the fifth, Dick Billings got an RBI single to increase the Texas lead.

The Rangers went to the bullpen in the seventh and the Indians got a run off Casey Cox in the eighth. Horacio Pina then set the Indians down in order in the ninth to get the save.
