My Tigers habit started in 1971. I grew up in Connecticut and my dad was a huge Yankees fan (remains so to this day). One of his favorites from the fifties was Billy Martin who was named the Detroit manager that year that I turned six. Dad talked a lot about Martin that season and it happened to be the first year that I paid attention to baseball. Much to Dad's chagrin, I became a Tigers fan. I soon fell in love with Ron LeFlore and in '76 The Bird cemented my lifelong obsession / affliction.
