07/27/1973 - Padres Bang Out 7-6 Win Versus San Francisco

San Diego third baseman Dave W Roberts played a vital role in his team's 7-6 triumph over San Francisco. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for San Diego. San Diego reliever Rich Troedson picked up the win to move to 2-2. Jim Barr suffered the loss. At 47-56, San Diego is in last place in the NL West Division.

Dave Winfield's at-bat in the top of the seventh inning was a big one for San Diego. Coming to bat with no one out, a runner on 2nd and San Diego trailing 6-5, the pinch hitter hit a run-scoring single.

"We got the victory," said Winfield. "That's all that matters at the end of the day.

Kingman had put the Giants up with a 3-run bomb off RHP Steve Arlin in the first inning.
