The St. Louis Cardinals downed the San Francisco Giants, 11-3, at Candlestick Park. The Cardinals were led by Ken Reitz, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Rich Folkers notched his 1st save in 1 chances. The Cardinals bumped their record to 45-40 with this latest triumph.
Tom Heintzelman aided the St. Louis cause with a 3-run home run in the top of the third. For the game, the second baseman was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Reitz.
Kingman hit a solo big fly off LHP Rich Folkers...too little, too late.
