HENLEY HAULS IN FIRST RU GOLD ARM AWARD
Big 6-foot-6 Mark Henley hauled in his first Ruthlandian Union Golden Arm Award... the big 26-year-old Marston Nine southpaw posted a superlative season in his sixth year in the IPA... Mickey Walsh of the Sligo Rovers finished second in the voting, while Jacky Harshman of the Rovers came in third.
Henley compiled a 22-7 record in 31 starts, tallied 101 strikeouts in 229 innings and recorded a 2.91 ERA... other clubs managed a .268 batting average against him... Marston won the Ruthlandian East by six games this season.
Two Sligo hurlers were his main competition... Mickey Walsh and Jacky Harshman both had standout years... Walsh came in second in the voting... he was 17-8 with a league-leading 1.96 ERA in 33 starts...Walsh won the Golden Arm in 2053... Harshman was 16-8 with a 1.96 ERA in 29 starts... the Rovers ended up in first place in the Ruthlandian West Division race this year... it was their first division flag since 2040.
