2078 Season:

The BALTIMORE ORIOLES continued their reign of terror on the league. They won their fourth World Series in five years, defeating the Detroit Tigers in 5 games.

The PULASKI YANKEES were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 57-105, one game behind the Hartford Yard Goats for last place.

129 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Pulaski Yankees

Rookie- New York Yankees

Rookie Teams Remaining: 11

Yankees Affiliates Remaining: 3/6

All Time Record: 4398-5454 (.446)

Best Season: 2073, 101-60, 4th place

Best Hitter: Juan Rojas (2025-2039)

Rojas signed a large contract as an amateur from the Dominican Republic in 2021. Four years later, he was in Pulaski. After two brief cups of coffee, he hit 37 home runs as a 22-year-old rookie in 2027. In his 15 seasons with the team, he hit 498 more and was worth 51 WAR. He bounced around for a couple years as a below replacement level player before retiring in 2042. He recorded his 500th career home run and 2000th career hit at the same time in April 2040. His number 0 was retired by the team.

Best Pitcher: Brad Hargrove (2041-2048)

The Ohio native won the Cy Young at age 24 in 2044 after posting a 2.35 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. But his best season may have came 4 years later. Though he only won 6 of his 33 starts on an atrocious Pulaski team, Hargrove had a 2.85 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and struck out 12.1 batters per 9 innings. He signed a large free agent deal with the Rangers in 2049, but injuries sadly derailed the rest of his career. He retired in 2055, and the Veterans Committee later put him in the Hall of Fame.

Notes:

Cleveland RF Mike Watts led the league with a .374 batting average.

Lansing LF Eddie Fancher led the league with 57 home runs and 8.4 WAR.

Angels RF Murdoch Dugles stole 62 bases to lead the league for the third straight year.

The Oakland A's were projected by OSA to be the worst team in the entire league and be the first MLB team relegated to the pit of despair. They finished 84-78.

LF Chris Hohn retired following the season with 3422 career strikeouts. This put him second all time, behind only Tanner Witt and his 3507.

Nationals SP Chris Wind led the league with a 2.41 ERA and 8.7 WAR.

Midland SP Pete Hunt led the league with 298 strikeouts.

Astros pitcher Curt Murphy struck out 269 batters while walking just 19. He now has 3606 in his career, good for 24th all time. A good season next year will vault him into the top 10. He will be a free agent this offseason.

RF Jorge Quintana signed a two year deal with the Dodgers and hit 30 home runs, finishing the season with 698. He will be the 13th member of the 700 club next year, and he has a good shot at passing Babe Ruth.

The Lansing Lugnuts were the best MiLB team, going 95-67 and finishing in 10th place.

The Cincinnati Reds were the worst MLB team, going 66-96 and finishing in 121st place. Their farm system is 123rd out of 129. It should be an interesting few years for the team.
