2073 Season:

The PITTSBURGH PIRATES were World Champions for the first time since 1979, defeating the defending champion Helena Brewers in a 4 game sweep.

The AUGUSTA GREENJACKETS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 54-108, losing a one-game playoff to the Fort Myers Miracle for relegation.

134 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Augusta GreenJackets

A- San Francisco Giants

A Teams Remaining: 19

Giants Affiliates Remaining: 2/5

All Time Record: 4086-4958 (.452)

Best Season: 2045, 95-58, 24th place

Best Hitter: Joel Mitchell (2029-2035)

Mitchell wasn't drafted until the 4216th overall pick in the 2027 draft, but he made a massive impact in his short time with Augusta. In 2034, he won MVP after leading the league with a 1.170 OPS and 10.1 WAR. His 62 home runs were second in the league. Mitchell later signed with the Red Sox, and though he finished his career with 484 home runs, he never recreated his peak season.

Best Pitcher: Jamie Moore (2058-2073)

The Massachusetts native spent his entire career with the GreenJackets, for better or for worse. In 2062, his fourth full season, he posted a 2.19 ERA. His 104 wins are second most in team history. But after signing a massive extension in 2068, he struggled. Just two years later, his ERA was north of 6.00, and he was soon moved to the bullpen. Spending $23,000,000 on such a poor player was a death note for the team. Moore retired after this season, and his team was sent to the Pit.

Notes:

24-year-old Lehigh Valley 2B Mike Dailey led the league with a .374 batting average and 67 doubles in his first full season. Excluding the 2018 and 2019 seasons when the league was incredibly unbalanced, it was tied for the most doubles ever in a season.

Clinton LF Randy Powell led the league with 55 home runs.

Albuquerque SS Phil Jones led the league with 10.0 WAR, winning his second consecutive MVP.

Great Lakes SP Jon Roberts led the league with a 2.27 ERA.

Montgomery SP Zach Fritz led the league with 287 strikeouts.

Toronto SP Dave Morris was the only pitcher in the league with more than three complete games.

Quad Cities SP Dan Duffy had one of the worst seasons ever by a starting pitcher. He went 4-19 with an 8.03 ERA and walked a league worst 129 batters. He had a 2.12 WHIP and was worth -2.1 WAR in 27 starts.

SP Deshawn Togba, retired following the season. He had 3749 strikeouts, good for 11th all time.

The Helena Brewers were the best MiLB team, going 105-57 and finishing in second place.

The Seattle Mariners were the worst MLB team, going 70-91 and finishing in 111th place with the 14th highest payroll.
