Down 1-0, Tucker Barnhart hit a two-run homer off Kansas City starting pitcher Alex Wood in the bottom of the fifth inning to help propel St. Louis to a 12-4 win at Busch Stadium (1997).
With the win, the River Walkers took the final two games of the three-game series.
The Pit Masters had grabbed a 1-0 lead into the top of the fifth when Yasmani Grandal hit a solo homer off St. Louis starter Danny Duffy.
The St. Louis bats would bust loose after that two-run fifth.
Bo Bichette had an RBI single off Wood in the sixth, making it 3-1.
The Walkers would add four more in the seventh inning. Michael Conforto drove home two of them with a double.
St. Louis tacked on five more in the eighth, Rhys Hoskins with a grand slam off Danny Barnes.
Duffy worked six innings for St. Louis, allowing a pair of runson three hits. He struck out nine and walked one.
Jake Diekman, John Curtiss and Phil Maton all recorded three outs apiece to close it out.
