2070 Season:

The GREAT LAKES LOONS were World Champions, defeating the Texas Rangers in 6 games. The Loons join the 2062 Midland RockHounds as the only MiLB teams to win the World Series.

The LAKELAND FLYING TIGERS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 57-105, finishing one game behind the Bowling Green Hot Rods for last place.

137 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Lakeland Flying Tigers

High A- Detroit Tigers

High A Teams Remaining: 19

Tigers Affiliates Remaining: 3/5

All Time Record: 4161-4397 (.486)

Best Season: 2054, 97-65, 14th place

Best Hitter: Kelyn Groulx (2042-2053)

A former first rounder, the RF Groulx led the lague with a .362 batting average in 2049. A year prior, he won a silver slugger for hitting .341 with 51 home runs and 8.3 WAR, finishing 3rd in MVP voting. In 2054, he signed with the Mariners, where he put together three great seasons and one terrible one. Groulx retired in 2057 with 543 home runs and a .948 OPS. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2063, and his #8 is the only one retired by Lakeland.

Best Pitcher: Arturo Najar (2044-2057)

Najar spent nearly the entirety of his career with Lakeland, save for one final season in Kansas City. In 2048, he had a 15-1 record with a 2.92 ERA and over 10 K/9. Unfortunately, Najar was plagued by injuries throughout his career. Najar suffered an absurd 64 injuries during his career, including a UCL tear that caused him to miss a full season of his prime. I've truly never seen anything like his injury history.

Notes:

Missoula 1B Mike Fontenot (still no relation) led the league with 65 home runs and a 1.116 OPS. Missoula's Ogren Park is basically Coors Field on steroids.

38-year-old Nationals RF Doug Riggs led the league with a .354 batting average.

Gwinnett CF Rogelio Troche led the league with 9.6 WAR and a .707 slugging percentage.

New Hampshire 2B Juan Keck had a 35 game hitting streak that stretched from late April to mid June.

Angels SP Curt Murphy led the league with 24 wins, a 1.98 ERA, and 0.742 WHIP. It was the 7th lowest WHIP of all time, and lowest since Mike Nifong's 0.714 in 2024.

Phillies SP Steve Murray struck out his 3000th career batter on June 28th. He was on pace for a tremendous season with a 2.33 ERA and 14.1 K/9 before an elbow injury in August sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

Memphis SP Matt Fry led the league with 303 strikeouts.

Braves Closer Mitch Vandehey saved 52 games.

Tulsa 1B Juan Blas moved up to 23rd all time with 658 home runs, putting him in a tie with Fernando Tatis Jr and two behind Willie Mays.

Rockies SP Deshawn Togba posted his 10th consecutive season with at least 230 strikeouts.

All five starters for the San Francisco Giants posted ERAs below 3.30, including future Hall of Famer Sonny Lovett.

The Tampa Bay Rays were the worst MLB team, going 66-96 and finishing in 125th place. It was the worst record ever by a major league team, and with the 113th ranked farm system, things might continue to get worse for the Rays.
