2069 Season:

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS were World Champions, defeating the Atlanta Braves in 5 games.

The JACKSONVILLE JUMBO SHRIMP were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 55-106, finishing 3 games behind the Burlington Royals for last place.

138 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp

AA- Miami Marlins

AA Teams Remaining: 19

Marlins Affiliates Remaining: 1/5

All Time Record: 4033-4365 (.480)

Best Season: 2055, 93-68, 21st place

Best Hitter: Nate Beaird (2049-2055)

One of the league's all time great shortstops, Beaird got his start in Jacksonville. In 2054, he posted a 1.051 OPS with 8.9 WAR. After signing with the Red Sox, Beaird won the league MVP in 2057. He retired in 2068 with 520 homers and 111.6 WAR, and he should be inducted into the Hall of Fame once he becomes eligible.

Best Pitcher: Andy French (2059-2068)

French was initially drafted by Augusta as a 7th round pick in 2057. A year later, he was sent to Jacksonville in a minor deal that brought starter Jim Perkins to the GreenJackets. But French took off from there, winning 20 games with a 3.20 ERA in 2063, being named pitcher of the month in June. His best season was perhaps his injury shortened 2065, in which he had a 166 ERA+ in 20 starts. At the 2068 trade deadline, Jacksonville dealt French to Toronto in exchange for two prospects, who unfortunately were swallowed into the Pit of Despair along with the team. French signed a 6-year deal with the Rangers last offseason, and he posted a 3.00 ERA in his first season.

Notes:

Missoula 1B Mike Fontenot (no relation) led the league with 62 home runs.

Lansing 1B Josh Derry led the league with a .376 batting average. His teammate Dwayne Bogin was second with a .365 average. The Lugnuts went 78-83.

Gwinnett CF Rogelio Troche won his second MVP in three seasons. He led the league with a 1.080 OPS and 10.0 WAR.

Louisville SP Mike Tokarz led the league with a 1.76 ERA.

Brooklyn CF Sam Gross missed two full months with a finger injury and still struck out 154 times. He now has struck out 756 times in just three seasons.

After signing with the Rockies, 36-year-old SP Deshawn Togba had the best season of his career, posting a 2.18 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, and 14.5 K/BB. He has now been runner-up for the Cy Young award three times.

Angels SP Curt Murphy struck out an absurd 341 batters. It was the most since Noah Syndergaard struck out 343 in 2020.

On April 4th, Indians 1B Butch Claassen hit his 600th home run. His 639 career homers are tied with Nolan Arenado for 32nd all time.

The Iowa Cubs dynasty I projected after three consecutive top-2 picks never panned out, largely due to injuries. Their second such pick, SP Jared Gibbons, has been effective when healthy. Unfortunately, the 28-year-old Gibbons has suffered 19 injuries in 6 years, including a torn rotator cuff that kept him out the entire 2069 season.

The Great Lakes Loons were the best MiLB team, going 100-61 and finishing tied for 4th place.

The Chicago White Sox were the worst MLB team, going 68-93 and finishing in 125th place.
