OOTP has a habit of assigning guys who can play multiple positions the tag of whichever position is rated the highest. In the case of infield utility men, first base requires much lower ratings to be proficient at, which means that if a guy can play third and second base pretty well, he can most likely play first base spectacularly. OOTP then calls him a first basemen when he enters the draft, since his first base rating is higher than all his other positions.
So yeah, check the fielding ratings.

Yup I agree . Always check as ootp has its reasons and you just need to understand them . I my self like to make all my picks as I have been very sucessful with drafting good players late and that helps me out a ton. I don't like letting ootp draft for me as its not me simply lol.
