Joe Gans (12-1-1) scored a TKO12 over #6 Harry Gilmore (8-6) for his 4th title defense on 7-14-1903. Gans was in complete control from the opening bell, losing only one round decisively. Repeated Jabs to Gilmore's right eye started the eye swelling in the fourth. It seemed completely closed by the 9th. Gilmore gamely fought on, but it was stopped by the ring doctor in the 12th.

I had it 109-100. Ringside expert Jim Trunzo had it 108-101. The official judges had it 109-99/108-100/108-100.

Gans will face Jack Blackburn for the 3rd time in November.
