Walkers news: April 19 -- St. Louis 7, Quad City 2

Record: 4-4, 3rd, 2 GB Des Moines
Byron Buxton was 3 for 5 with two doubles, a homer, two runs scored and four RBIs to power St. Louis to a 7-2 win over Quad City at Busch Stadium (1997).
Buxton, who has struggled mightily to start the season, had things going from his first at-bat opening the bottom of the first with a double off Thunder starting pitcher Evan Steele.
An Andrew Benintendi single moved him to third and after Steele uncorked a wild pitch, it was 1-0 River Walkers.
In the fourth, Buxton cranked his second homer of the season, a two-out, three-run shot off Steele, to make it 4-1.
The sixth inning saw Buxton connect on his second double of the game, this one also with two outs. It scored J.T. Realmuto to make it 5-1.
Buxton was thrown out trying to make it a triple to end the inning.
A Rhys Hoskins homer off Jharel Cotton in the seventh made it 6-2.
Walkers starter Alex Faedo lasted six innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He struck out seven and walked two.
It took four relievers -- Bill Warson (0.1 IP), Tony Cingrani (0.2), Reyes Moronta (0.1) and Eduardo Jimenez (0-2) to handle the seventh and eighth innings.
The ninth was all Phil Maton, who didn't allow a baserunner.
