Walkers news: April 18 -- Quad City 2, St. Louis 0

Record: 3-4, 4th, 2 GB Des Moines and Quad City

Matt Ruppenthal scattered four hits over six shutout innings and a trio of relievers didn't allow a baserunner the rest of the way, as Quad City downed St. Louis 2-0 at Busch Stadium (1997).
The loss was the fourth in a row for the River Walkers, who had opened their season with four consecutive wins.
The Thunder got the only run it would need in the top of the third when Miguel Gomez led off with a double.
A sacrifice bunt from Ruppenthal moved him to third, and Gomez scored on a Duke Kinamon single.
The only other run came in the ninth, when Carter Kieboom hit a two-out homer off Jake Brentz.
The 2022 National League Cy Young winner, Ruppenthal got the best of the runner-up Kyle Hendricks, who took the loss.
Ruppenthal allowed the four hits and did not walk a batter while striking out eight.
Joe Kelly, Jharel Cotton and Jimmy Herget all worked an inning apiece to close it out.

Herget notched his fourth save.
