The Colt .45s will conclude their road trip with a four game weekend series in Pittsburgh against the Pirates. The Pirates have lost four of their last five. The Pirates lead the season series 2-1.

The Colt .45s began the game with back-to-back doubles from Amalfitano and Buddin to get on the board first. Aspromonte added an RBI single.

In the bottom of the first, Stuart tied the game with a two run homer. One out later, Groat gave the Pirates the lead with a two run homer of his own.

In the top of the second, Amalfitano hit an RBI triple. Amalfitano went on to score the tying run when Buddin grounded out to short.

In the bottom of the third, Groat gave the Pirates the lead back with an RBI single.

After three: Pittsburgh 5 Houston 4.

In the top of the fifth, Mejias tied the game with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the fifth, an RBI double by Hoak put the Pirates in the lead once again.

In the bottom of the sixth, Skinner hit a solo home run.

After six: Pittsburgh 7 Houston 5.

Diomedes Olivo took the mound for the Pirates in the top of the seventh.

In the bottom of the seventh, Clemente scored from first on a Burgess single combined with a Mejias throwing error. Spangler then threw Burgess out at home as he tried to score from second on a Groat single. With two out, Goss hit a three run homer. With a runner on first and two out, Dave Giusti took the mound for the Colt .45s.

Harvey Haddix took the mound for the Pirates in the bottom of the seventh. Larker scored from third when Schofield misplayed a Taussig grounder. Amalfitano added an RBI single. Buddin followed with his own RBI single.

Dean Stone took the mound for the Colt .45s in the bottom of the eighth.

The two teams combined for 26 hits in the contest.

Final score: Pittsburgh 11 Houston 8.
