The Batting Crown
Laurant Mercier has been an elite player of the FBL for years. Now, he is on a hitting tear with four games of 3 hits or more in the last 9. On his resume:
8x Player of the Week
2x Player of the Month
3x Silver Slugger
2x Playoff Series MVP
2x World Championship
At the age of 30 he is putting up his best offensive numbers. He's overtaken Rolland for the lead in batting crown race (.374 vs. .362). His OB/SLG leads the league, too.
It looks like it will be Le Diamant, with a magic number of 3, capturing first place in the Martinique League barring a miracle run by Cap Chevalier. The Waves have a 3 game lead on the Quebec Snake Eyes with about 9 games to go for the WC. Giverney has seen their lead shrink to two games over the Paris Artists who swept them all three last week in Paris. And, the team to beat, the Ottawa Expedition, have cinched the Canadian League. If the expedition can run the table the final 9 games they will reach the century mark.
