My Fictional League Plan

Here's my plan. All thoughts, comments, and ideas welcome.

Therduin Origins Plan

Fictional cities, fictional players (may eventually edit the world_xml file, but that’s a time-sink)

Cities from my fictional fantasy setting of 30+ years
Names consistent with world
Still have international players coming in (from other areas of the world)
Perhaps wait for international players until removing reserve clause
Five levels of minor leagues

Lock stats at 1980 with modifications
Goal is to be able to compare players across eras
Want superstar pitcher and hitter numbers without too much inflation (no 1968s or 1996s)
~2.00 ERAs and ~50 homers can exist in same years
Tinker with settings so there are some star closers but 10+ CG not outlandish
Reduce pitcher abuse (300+ innings an anomaly)
A few of the greatest hitters may flirt with .400

Start finances at 1990
Proceed with inflation, not adjustment to historical year

Start year 2001 for nice date baseline

Two Leagues, Two Six-Team Divisions (1969 schedule and playoffs setup)
Expansion over the decades to eventually get to three five-team divisions
DH in one league and not the other (starting without DH obviates comparisons)

Sim 20-25 (maybe as many as 50) seasons before getting involved as GM/manager
Create league history, legends, etc. Goals for players to reach.
Have reserve clause during this time to create team identities
Take over a team the year (or maybe year before) FA happens.
Creates new “era”

Have fun telling the extended story of the Therduin Baseball League over 50, 100, 200 years.
