What a final weekend for Ken Griffey Jr. With all my attention on the Alexandria/Birmingham race, I didn't notice the Mustangs had a makeup game on the schedule. Of course, the AI trotted out one of their best pitchers to pitch a meaningless game against Texarkana...Ugh! Over the last four games of the season, Junior went 11-17, 1 double, 1 triple, 1 home run and 8 RBI.

The Triple Crown is on it's way to Fort Worth. Griffey finished the season hitting .371, 45 home runs and 136 RBI. Junior managed all this while only getting to the plate 46 times over the first 2 months of 1970.

Fort Worth finished the season with 3 of the top 5 on the ERA list, Earl Wilson, 2.73, best in the league. 2.79 Frank Viola, 2nd and Mike McCormick 2.92, good for 5th. They also had 3 pitchers finish in the top 5 on the Wins list. Earl Wilson won 20, Frank Viola and Kevin Tapani 18, while Mike McCormick went a pedestrian 16-9
