Walkers news: Sept. 10 -- St. Louis 3, Chicago 2

Record: 82-57, 1st, 5.5 GA Springfield
Bo Bichette, Larry Ernesto and Rhys Hoskins all hit solo home runs for St. Louis to lift the River Walkers to a 3-2 win over Chicago at Busch Stadium (1997).
The win allowed St. Louis to snatch the final game of the three-game series between the two division leaders in the National League. The G-Men own a three-game advantage over St. Louis in the race for the best record in the NL.
Chicago jumped out in front in the top of the first when a bought of wildness from St. Louis starting pitcher Derek Gordon led to three walks, including one with the bases loaded to Cruz Calderon, which plated Petey Halpin with the game's first run.
The Walkers answered back in the bottom of the inning with the first of their three solo shots -- this one from Bichette as he led off the inning against G-Men starter Josh Hader.
Chicago grabbed the lead for the second time in the top of the third.
Halpin led off the inning with a single, but was wiped out at second when Luis Tuero hit into a fielder's choice.
Tuero then scored on a Matt Wallner double.
The Walkers tied it in the fourth -- this home run came from Ernesto, A two-out bomb off Hader.
Two innings later, St. Louis took the lead when Hoskins hit a 3-2 pitch from Dalvin Rosario 346 feet into the right-field seats.
Gordon lasted 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits.
He left the game with runners at first and third in the fifth.
But Tim Hill came on and struck out Cory Acton to keep it tied at 2.
Hill (3-3), who came out of the game with a victory, would take the game into the seventh inning, before exiting with two outs.
Danny Grigg got Calderon to fly out to end the inning.
Danny Jennings allowed a lead-off single to Jarred Kelenic to open the eighth.
But rookie right-hander Adam Wenger stepped in and got Michael Mateja to hit into a double play.
Lefty Jake Brentz stepped into finish the eighth, getting Nolan Jones to fly out.
He then retired the side in order in the ninth for his 15th save.
