Opening Statement: My early strategy when selecting players was to focus on guys that could provide value relative to their demands. The team ended up got 16 guys making 550K a piece. We leaned heavily contact and eye attributes for hitters. With a bulk of the team in place at low cost, the remainder was filled out with impact pieces like Joseph Price and Pete Snell.

5 Keys to Winning:
1) The bullpen is full of minimum wage guys. They need to play well or we could end up like the Detroit Tigers last year.
2) There were no stand out players at SS or C that I could justify paying a premium price for. We have to get lucky and get production out of Sotelo and Hardstaff.
3) Our closer Michael Newman is 23 years old. He put up almost a six! ERA in 2013 but came back strong in 2014. He's never closed out games before. Which Newman are we going to get?
4) We're moving some guys away from the defense positions they're most experienced in. On the whole, the defense should be ok, but they need to hold their own when we leave our pitcher friendly home ballpark.
5) We've got over half our payroll tied up in a handful of guys. It goes without saying, but they need to produce.
