Montreal are at home to host the (10-9-4) New Jersey Devils. They have met just once this season and it was a 1-1 tie in New Jersey.

The 1st period was pretty even with the shots 6-6 and no scoring.

The Devils open up the 1-0 lead with a one timer by RW Billy Aschim beating G Bill Wolfenbarger at 9:02 of the 2nd period. Montreal gets the equalizer from a point shot by RD Steven Thornton at 19:36 of the 2nd and it is now 1-1. That's the way the 2nd period ends with the shots even 15-15 for the game.

Montreal has taken over the game in the 3rd and clearly has all the momentum with just over 8 minutes left in the game and the shots are now 24-17 for the Habs. Neither team could find the back of the net the remainder of this game and for the second time this year, the Devils and Canadiens end in a 1-1 tie. The shots were 29-22 for Montreal.
