Bill Burks survived a poor week that saw him drop to second in the batting race behind fellow rookie Lyle Solon of Bay City. Burks managed to bounce back and retake the batting average lead but Jesse Richmond of Duluth continues to push him for the RBI lead that has them tied going into the final few games.
In the South Canton has a seven game lead over Springfield with just nine to play. The Kernels are finishing the season on the road but unfortunately so is Springfield. The Storm have a two game cushion over the Stars but the season series is over between the two rivals.
