SCORES
COL - 3 BOS - 2 The Bruins can't make a early first period goal by D Zdeno Chara (9.0c/9.0c) hold up and fall behind in the second period to three ES goals by the Av's. Both goalies close the door in the third period and the Avalanche continues its four game unbeaten streak.
ARZ - 2 DET - 3 G Jimmy Howard (7.5d/8.0d) let in 2 PP goals but stopped 38 other shots in getting a narrow win over the Coyotes. He is another goalie on a tear, sporting a 1.33 GAA and an impressive .963 save percentage.
WPG - 1 MIN - 2 The Wild made a two goal first period lead hold up and Josh Harding stopped 35 of 36 shots to drop the hard luck Jets to 1 - 3 on the season.
NYR - 4 ANA - 1 LW Benoit Pouliot scored first then spent the rest of the game in the penalty box, or so it seemed, as he had three minor penalties in the game. G Henrik Lundqvist is still crazy good allowing one goal and lowering his GAA to 1.25 and upping his save percentage to .957.
CBL - 3 BUF - 4 The surging Buffalo Sabres won for the fourth time, this time building a three goal lead and then surviving a furious third period comeback effort by the Blue Jackets. First Star LW Thomas Vanek (8.0d/8.0d) had a goal and an assist in the win.
MTL - 2 EDM - 3 The Habs used a two goal performance by LW Alex Galchenyuk to get an OT point in a downright nasty penalty filled game. 11 penalties were called in the regular session, seven against Montreal, before RW Jordan Eberle (8.0b/8.0b) scored a PP goal on yet another Montreal penalty in OT.
CAR - 3 WAS - 1 The Hurricanes won behind 29 y/o G Cam Ward (8.0b/8.0b) who turned away 35 or 36 shots to get his third win.
TOR - 3 NAS - 2 Maple leaf C Nazem Kadri (7.5b/8.0b) and Predator C Mike Fisher (7.5c/7.5c) both scored once and had an assist in this shootout thriller. *** Shootout was wrong, extra TOR shooter scored after first 6 was allowed even though only TOR. Cody Franson scored on 5th shot. ***
SJS - 2 VAN - 5 Canucks RW Alex Burrows (7.5d/7.5d) and RW David Booth (6.5d/6.5d) both scored twice in a easy win over the Sharks at home. Booth's goal a game pace through the first five games cannot possibly last, but is good at keeping him a scoring leader in the NHL race.
