L.A. star catcher Greg Foster to the IL!
The L.A. Spinners have been playing great baseball of late and are maintaining a spot still within striking distance of the even more en fuego Brewers (spoiler alert: Brewers have won 12 of their last 13 games), and sit at 6 games out in the MGL.
But they did not get good news today as it was announced that their 4-time All-Star catcher Greg Foster will be on the IL and out for likely at least a month and half. Foster is actually dealing with two injuries- a quadriceps strain that is likely to affect his mobility for about a month and the more serious severe hip strain which is expected to take about six weeks to heal. Foster is arguably the best hitting catcher in the WPK and is also a 3-time Gold Glove winner (though, to be fair, his defense profiles as basically league average at this time.)
Then again, Spinners fans might not be panicking too much, since their backup catcher is Jason Ott, who was chosen 2nd overall in the 1971 draft and looks like he is on his way to being perhaps the best catcher in the league.
