The Rangers continued their home stand with a three game series against the defending AL Champion Baltimore Orioles. Texas is 3-0 on this home stand. The Orioles lead the league in home runs, are second in the league in runs scored and team OBP and tied for third in the league in stolen bases. The Orioles lead the season series 2-1.

Rumors are circulating that Oakland Athletics C Dave Duncan has asked to be traded.

In the bottom of the first, Burroughs hit an RBI double to put the Rangers in the lead. Mincher then doubled to score Burroughs.

Gogolewski was perfect through three.

After three: Texas 2 Baltimore 0.

Grich led off the top of the fourth with a walk to bring a quick end to the perfect game bid.

Etchebarren led off the bottom of the sixth with a single to break up the no-hitter as well. Later in the inning, Rettunmond hit a 3-run homer to give the Orioles the lead.

After six: Baltimore 3 Texas 2.

In the top of the eighth, with a runner on first and two out, Paul Lindblad took the mound for the Rangers.

Grant Jackson took the mound for the Orioles in the bottom of the eighth.

After Burroughs led off the bottom of the ninth with a single, Eddie Watt took the mound for the Orioles. With a runner on first and one out, Billings grounded into the game ending 5-4-3.

The Orioles won despite being held to just three hits.

Final score: Baltimore 3 Texas 2.
