In the top of the second, Randle put the Rangers in front with a 2 run homer. The Rangers then loaded the bases with one out. Nelson popped up for the second out. Burroughs then hit a grand slam. The Rangers sent 10 men to bat in the frame.

In the bottom of the second, Darwin hit a 2 run homer.

In the bottom of the third, Braun hit an RBI double. A sacrifice fly from Carew brought another run home.

After three: Texas 6 Minnesota 4.

In the top of the fourth, Burroughs hit his second home run of the game, this time a solo shot. With a runner on first and one out, Bob Gebhard took the mound for the Twins. King picked up an RBI single. A Randle single loaded the bases with one out. Gogolewski picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly.

After drew a leadoff walk in the top of the sixth, Jim Strickland took the mound for the Twins.

Mike Paul took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the sixth.

After six: Texas 9 Minnesota 4.

In the top of the tenth, a sacrifice fly by King added to the Rangers big lead.

Wayne Granger took the mound for the Twins in the top of the ninth.

Casey Cox took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the ninth. Carew hit an RBI triple and scored on a Darwin grounder to first.

The Rangers and Twins combined for 24 hits in the game.

Final score: Texas 10 Minnesota 6.
